What do industrial facilities call us for?

Most calls begin with a symptom: a breaker that will not stay closed, a motor running hot, a drive faulting out or a panel that is warm to the touch. In an industrial building any of these can stop a line, so the first job is to find the cause rather than reset and hope.

  • Nuisance tripping on feeders, motors or heaters
  • Equipment that resets or faults when another machine starts
  • Hot panels, lugs or disconnects
  • Voltage sags, unbalanced phases and poor power factor
  • Expansion plans that need to know what the service can carry

What industrial electrical work do we perform?

  • Troubleshooting of feeders, branch circuits and equipment power
  • Panel upgrades and service upgrades
  • Breaker replacement
  • Feeder and branch circuit work for new or moved equipment
  • Grounding and bonding corrections
  • Electrical repairs for code findings and inspection corrections

Why do we record data before recommending a fix?

Industrial loads start, stop and cycle all day. A one-time reading misses the moment that causes the trouble. We record voltage, current and power over days or weeks with power monitoring or a load study, so the report shows what happened and when. For warehouses and plants, see load studies for warehouse and industrial facilities.

How do thermal scans fit in?

A thermal camera shows heat in connections, breakers and motor terminations while the equipment is running. That makes it a fast first check on a suspect panel and a standing part of a maintenance routine. See thermography for production and manufacturing equipment and our infrared thermography service.

How do we work around production?

Most recording and scanning can be done with equipment running. Repairs that need a shutdown are planned with your maintenance team for a scheduled window, and we flag anything that can wait for the next one. Our crews follow NFPA 70E on every job; see our NFPA 70E electrical safety page.

OUR PROCESS

HOW DOES A JOB WITH PHOENIX CONTRACTING SERVICES WORK?

Every job follows three steps: a site walkthrough, testing and documentation, then findings and next steps.

01

WALKTHROUGH AND SCOPE

We start with a free phone consultation, and you can send a photo of your panel or equipment. If on-site work is needed, we visit, look at the panels and service, and agree on what needs to be tested or repaired before any work starts. On-site work is quoted before it begins.

02

TESTING AND DOCUMENTATION

Load loggers and a thermal camera record what the equipment is doing, and the results are documented for each panel or component we check.

03

FINDINGS AND NEXT STEPS

We go over what we found and your options in plain language. If corrective work is needed, we are licensed to do it.

WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY ABOUT US

5.0 VERIFIED GOOGLE RATING
It actually started in Fall 2020 with my Garage losing power. I bid out the work and hired Phoenix Contracting Services. The following Monday, Jeff and his crew (Mike and Gabriel) came out and finally resolved the issue See more
Jeff’s knowledge, experience and professionalism are exemplary! We contracted him to provide engineering plans to permit our relocation and upgrade of electrical service meter. He worked with my electricians on details See more
We woke to a Friday morning with weird lighting fluctuations. I checked the service panel to find a burning smell and melted bus bar under AC breaker. Since bus bar was melted, I contacted SRP who provided some certified See more

Can you troubleshoot while production is running?
Often yes. Recording and thermal scans are done with equipment running. When a repair needs a shutdown, we plan it with your maintenance team.
Do you work on 480 volt three-phase systems?
Yes. Most industrial and large commercial buildings in the Phoenix area run on 480 volt three-phase power, and that is where we do much of this work.
What if the problem is intermittent?
That is where recording helps. Instruments log the electrical system for days or weeks, so a fault that comes and goes still shows up in the data.
Do you handle panel and service upgrades for expansions?
Yes. We measure first, so the upgrade is sized to what the facility actually draws and what it plans to add.
Do you work with our maintenance staff and engineers?
Yes. We coordinate access, shutdown windows and findings with them, and provide field data when an engineer needs it.
