What electrical problems do Phoenix homeowners call about?

Most calls come from a breaker that keeps tripping, an outlet or room that has lost power, lights that dim when the cooling equipment starts, or a panel that feels warm. Each of these points to a specific cause, and the cause decides whether the fix is a small repair or a bigger upgrade.

  • Breakers that trip, will not reset or run warm
  • Outlets and switches that stop working, spark or feel hot
  • Flickering or dimming lights
  • A panel that is full, old or showing heat damage
  • Wiring from older homes that needs to be evaluated

When does a home need a new electrical panel?

When the panel is full, damaged, undersized for the home's load or no longer supported by replacement parts. A new kitchen, a pool, additional cooling equipment or an electric vehicle charger can push an older panel past its limit. See electrical panel upgrades and service upgrades.

What if my house has aluminum wiring?

Many Phoenix homes built from the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s have aluminum branch wiring, and the connections at outlets and switches can loosen and overheat over time. We repair it with approved connectors instead of rewiring the house. See aluminum wire and repair, and the pages on pigtailing and AlumiConn.

What else do we repair at the panel?

Worn or failing breakers are replaced one at a time or as part of a panel update. See breaker replacement. If you are buying a home or want a second opinion on an older system, an electrical inspection shows what is safe and what needs attention.

OUR PROCESS

HOW DOES A JOB WITH PHOENIX CONTRACTING SERVICES WORK?

Every job follows three steps: a site walkthrough, testing and documentation, then findings and next steps.

01

WALKTHROUGH AND SCOPE

We start with a free phone consultation, and you can send a photo of your panel or equipment. If on-site work is needed, we visit, look at the panels and service, and agree on what needs to be tested or repaired before any work starts. On-site work is quoted before it begins.

02

TESTING AND DOCUMENTATION

Load loggers and a thermal camera record what the equipment is doing, and the results are documented for each panel or component we check.

03

FINDINGS AND NEXT STEPS

We go over what we found and your options in plain language. If corrective work is needed, we are licensed to do it.

WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY ABOUT US

5.0 VERIFIED GOOGLE RATING
It actually started in Fall 2020 with my Garage losing power. I bid out the work and hired Phoenix Contracting Services. The following Monday, Jeff and his crew (Mike and Gabriel) came out and finally resolved the issue See more
Jeff’s knowledge, experience and professionalism are exemplary! We contracted him to provide engineering plans to permit our relocation and upgrade of electrical service meter. He worked with my electricians on details See more
We woke to a Friday morning with weird lighting fluctuations. I checked the service panel to find a burning smell and melted bus bar under AC breaker. Since bus bar was melted, I contacted SRP who provided some certified See more

Why does my breaker keep tripping?
Common causes are an overloaded circuit, a failing breaker, a loose connection or a short in the wiring. We trace the circuit to find which one, instead of only resetting it.
Is it safe to keep using a warm outlet or panel?
No. Heat usually means a loose or overloaded connection. Stop using the circuit and have it checked.
How do I know if I need a new panel?
Signs include a full panel, repeated tripping, scorch marks, a panel with known problems and plans to add large loads. An inspection answers it for your home.
Do you repair aluminum wiring?
Yes. We use AlumiConn connectors, which the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission accepts for aluminum branch circuit repair.
Do you pull permits for residential work?
Yes, where your city requires them. Panel and service work almost always do, and we handle the permit and the inspection.
